Gail Bolte offers private Structural Integration sessions as well as private and group Gyrotonic training sessions at the NW Center. Gail creates customized private and group GYROTONIC training sessions to improve her client’s overall health and well being. Gail is also a graduate of the Northwest Center for Structural Integration. She added this next dimension to her practice to offer her clients a way of releasing the adhesions that might prevent them from moving to their full capacity. She offers 75 minute SI sessions (see below for more information). She encourages her clients to continue moving thoughtfully between sessions to encourage new movement patterns in their bodies.
A native of New York, Gail Bolte’s enthusiasm for fitness began in childhood trying a myriad of sports but her passion landed with gymnastics and high school team dance. In 2003, Gail relocated to Portland and embraced Pilates to treat the chronic lower back pain she experienced after having children. Gail’s success with Pilates drove her passion for practicing therapeutic movement and led her to become a certified Pilates instructor.
In 2007, Gail relocated to Hong Kong and continued her work as a Pilates instructor at One Pilates Studio. At this studio Gail was introduced to GYROTONIC and quickly realized the benefits of working your body in both linear and circular movements. Gail experienced the benefits GYROTONIC provided first-hand, including increased strength, fluidity, and balance. This exposure and realization of the power GYROTONIC has on transforming your body, drove Gail to begin her GYROTONIC certification. Upon her return to Portland in 2009, she completed her GYROTONIC training at Center GYROTONIC with Master Trainer Emma Kingston.
Gail believes that movement is the link to health, happiness and inner peace. Her motivation comes from sharing her passion for GYROTONIC and Pilates with others and providing her clients with the inspiration and support they need to achieve their fitness goals.
The Gyrokinesis method is a movement method that gently works the entire body, opening energy pathways, stimulating the nervous system, increasing range of motion, and creating functional strength through rhythmic, flowing movement sequences. It original and unique movement has roots in Yoga, Tai Chi, gymnastics, and dance. The Gyrokinesis method is practiced in group or private classes under the instruction of a certified Gyrokinesis Trainer, and can also be practiced at home with a mat, chair, and instructional Gyrokinesis dvds.
Gyrokinesis classes are 60-90 minutes long. Each class begins on a chair with a gentle warm-up sequence to awaken the senses and stimulate the nervous system. This is followed by a series of fluid spinal motions to increase range of motion, and prepare the body to explore more complex movements with agility, and ease. Class continues on the floor with exercises that expand on the spinal motions, gradually adding more complex sequences, incorporating more movements of the hips, shoulders, hands, and feet. Gyrokinesis classes can be adapted to fit anyone’s ability.
The Gyrokinesis method is practiced by people from all walks of life, including accomplished athletes and dancers, college students, baby boomers, senior citizens, and people with disabilities. Cost: Gyrotonic classes $20 (60 minutes) and $25 (75 minutes). Location: 4160 SE Division Ave. Please contact Gail at email@example.com to reserve your spot!
